Muhammad Jahangir Khan



For the last 18 years Muhammad Jahangir Khan has been working as a photojournalist within organizations of national and international repute.

He had his Masters degree in Journalism from Shah Latif University Khairpur Pakistan. Continuing professional education he also attended a six month-photography course in Asahi Shimbun Institute of Journalism in Tokyo, Japan. He is the first Pakistani photojournalist ever having this type of training abroad. Jahangir Khan started his career in 1997 and soon joined the premier English language newspaper of Pakistan The DAWN as a photographer and also got the opportunity to work for REUTERS.

Jahangir Khan has the pride to organize the first ever exhibition of Pakistani photojournalists in Tokyo Japan under the topic of “Understand land and the people of Pakistan” including more than one hundred photographers’ works, following the international symposium and international exhibition of photojournalism in which a large number of photojournalists from eight different countries participated including Japan, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bhutan.

Jahangir represented Pakistan Association of Photo Journalists (PAPJ) in the “2013 World Photographers Focusing on Beijing”, an international photographic event where later he was honored as amongst the 20 best photographers of the world. In 2014 he covered the world’s biggest religious event Hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. He won the Humanity Photo Awards (HPA) 2015 of China Folklore Photographic Association in the eve of UNESCO’s 70th anniversary celebrations which was also held in response to the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022).

Beside his professional activities Jahangir Khan has also made great contribution to the promotion of photo journalism through the lectures he has given in almost every city of Pakistan sharing his experiences, new techniques of photography and new technologies. He delivered lectures on news photography at İzmir Art of Photography Society (IFOD) Turkey in 2013 during İzmir International Photography Days.

Currently Jahangir is working at Dunia Production Company.
