She was born in Gaziantep.
She studied at Ege University, Faculty of Fine Arts, in the Department of Cinema-TV (1976-1980).
She completed her undergraduate studies with a dissertation titled: “The Comedy of Kemal Sunal” (1980). Her Master’s and graduate (PhD) dissertations were titled, respectively, as “The Early Period of Photography and Ottoman Photographers” (1983) and “Approaches in Turkish Film Critique” (1990).
She is a professor and the Chair of the Department of Photography of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dokuz Eylül University. She lectures currently at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Photography and Department of Film Design; at the Faculty of Education, Department of Painting; and at the Graduate School of Fine Arts.
She lectured, also, between 2006 and 2011 at Anadolu University, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Department of Journalism.
Her research interests: Theories of Photography, Postmodern Cinema, Philosophy of Distance Education, E- Learning Culture, Cyber Culture.
